The Art of Jazz is pleased to announce that, on Sunday December 14, 2008 at 3:00 p.m., MUSIC IN MONK TIME, a band devoted to the compositions of Thelonious Monk is performing for the first time in 20 years. Formed by Jane Fair and Jane Bunnett in 1988, this band performed at all the major venues across Ontario. With “wall to wall crowds at their final performance at the Bermuda Onion”, Geoff Chapman stated “Monk Time, a good time for a long time” (Toronto Star, December 1990).

Jane Fair is heard too infrequently in Toronto. Her recent release “Chances Are” on Cellar Live, has received stunning reviews and made two of CODA Magazine's critic's top ten lists for 2007. Jane Fair was Jane Bunnett’s first teacher and is considered to be a groundbreaking female jazz artist in Canada. Their collaboration and contrasting styles are perfect for the music of Thelonius Monk.

Jane Bunnett and Jane Fair are truly two of Canada’s most valuable artistic resources. Don’t miss your chance to see them perform live, in this intimate setting
